Thinking about Lion Air, and Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 Crashes in Commercial Aviation, I wonder if there has been an accident due to a software glitch on any aircraft in General Aviation.

$\begingroup$ You might want to edit the title. Some might interpret “general aviation” as referring specifically to that category of aviation. Since airline aircraft fall under commercial aviation, not general aviation, the title could be confusing. $\endgroup$

$\begingroup$ ummm? yes, is about General Aviation. The first sentence is just the premise of the question making reference to this type of accidents in Commercial Aviation. $\endgroup$

$\begingroup$ @MichaelHall: Many GA aircraft have glass cockpits, transponders, ADS-B out, engines with FADEC, and other software-driven units which failure can objectively lead to accidents. E.g. see aircraft engined with Lycoming IO-360 or equipped with Garmin 1000 avionics. $\endgroup$

$\begingroup$ For the record, I don't consider the MCAS accidents to be "software glitch". The airplane was working as designed, and it had been designed that way intentionally. The only thing that failed was the pilots reaction to such events compared to what Boeing expected to be the pilot reaction. Which was an utterly flawed expectation, and hence an utterly flawed design. $\endgroup$ Commented Jul 26 at 17:37

$\begingroup$ @GabrielBraun: "it had been designed that way intentionally", That may be excessive. The MCAS had full authority hence couldn't be permitted to fail. Still the failure of a single AoA sensor led to a catastrophic aircraft failure. This was surely not designed this way, it seemingly broke the DO-178 requirements. $\endgroup$
